Wes Anderson: The Archive is a major exhibition at the Design museum, featuring over 700 objects from 30 years of filmmaking.  Bringing together props, costumes, puppets, set pieces, and Polaroids, the exhibition offers an immersive insight into Anderson’s distinctive cinematic world.

The lighting aimed to recreate the atmosphere of Anderson’s films with a precise, playful and immersive scheme.  With careful consideration, light was used to bring each object, big and small, to life in the way it appears on screen. Bespoke lighting solutions were required in the many showcases including a mix of acrylic hoods with stem and surface lights and large fabric fronted showcases with built in linear lighting and desk cases.

Additional track lighting was installed throughout the space to ensure every object could be illuminated from its ideal angle. A combination of spotlights and shuttered fittings was used to precisely control the light, allowing each exhibit to stand out clearly and distinctly within the overall display.
