Expo 2025, Osaka

UK Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka — a pioneering spatial storytelling experience designed by Immersive International to celebrate the UK’s creative culture, innovation, and spirit of collaboration. Beam were invited by Immersive to take on the role of lighting designer and bring the show to life. The show element is a 30 minute experience with the audience pulsing through the various spaces in small groups. Video content was designed to tell the story of the UK’s role as a nation of ideas, and technological development. Our lighting scheme was highly synchronised with the video content, providing way-finding and audience assistance in the form of soft waves of low level light. This motif was used throughout the show allowing visitors to have a clear understanding of when to move whilst also providing those with mobility impairments clear visual indicators for optimal viewing points. Beam worked with partners from the UK and Internationally to supply the lights and control systems, before heading to Japan for commissioning. We are hugely proud of the project and express our gratitude to the many other teams that facilitated this ambitious and magical design.
