We were delighted to provide lighting design for the new Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, the UK’s first museum dedicated to the art of illustration. Housed within the historic New River Head waterworks site in Clerkenwell, London, the centre provides a permanent home for exhibitions, learning, and public engagement.
Our scheme was developed to support the centre’s diverse programme across three galleries, including a permanent gallery dedicated to Quentin Blake’s work and two flexible exhibition spaces for rotating displays.
In addition to the exhibition spaces, the project encompasses public areas including an illustration library, café, retail space, and landscaped gardens. Working within the character of the heritage setting, we programmed the lighting to enhance both the historic architecture and the centre’s mission to celebrate illustration in all its forms.
