Amy: Beyond the Stage at the Design Museum is the first exhibition devoted to the celebration of the life and career of Amy Winehouse.

Curated in collaboration with Winehouse’s family, the exhibition focuses on her creativity as a musical artist, exploring how she developed her unique and timeless aesthetic through diverse musical and stylistic influences.

The retrospective features many of Winehouse's never-before-seen personal items including teenage diaries, handwritten lyrics and notes and her first electric guitar, alongside some of her most iconic fashion items, awards and media articles. The show also features an installation designed by the artist Chaira Stephenson inspired by the Metropolis Studio where Winehouse recorded.

The exhibition ‘finale’ is an immersive semicircular space where a live performance by Amy has been turned into an animated experience by Studio Moross. The design, again by Chiara Stephenson, was brought together with a lighting installation by Beam. We programmed a lighting sequence in time with the track. The installation runs on an ETC system, co-ordinated and triggered by the AV installers Blue Elephant. We installed a series of LED batterns as well as bespoke lightbulbs on mic stands.
